My wife plays a game .. Puzzles and Chaos. It has .. Heros and Stone and Wood and Citadels and Levels and Sapphires and Diamonds. There are MANY currencies of value, and different ways to convert those into other resources (including Time), and various resources to spend to get things to a certain Level.
My wife asked me for help in figuring out how to get the resources she needed. I solved it with Excel. Very hack. Not pretty.
Then somebody in her alliance needed the same kind of help. Hmm. I could clean up the spreadsheet. I did. This time I used the data solver built in to excel.
Here’s a link to the spreadsheet (i don’t promise that it won’t change) – you’ll have to save a copy to play with it. You might need the full desktop version of excel and maybe you’ll have to add in the Data solver thing.
